September 14, 1998

NON-DISTRESS
Alert: Eldorado monitor at 1636 local.
heard in Boulder by Earl, weakly. After getting teams in the area it was determined that the ELT was in motion. After a 2 1/2 hour chase north of Boulder, an ELT was located and deactivated on a C-152 at FNL on the ramp at 1909 by N0PSR . The aircraft had not been flying recently. May or may not be the ELT we started chasing at 1636.

ELT was located on a Piper Super Cub at Aurora Air Park that suffered mahor damage to the left wing during a landing in high winds. ELT deactivated at 1732 by N0MHU.

ELT was located on a V-tail Bonanza at APA at 1750 local and deactivated at 1840 local after getting access. Remote switch in cockpit was wet on the contacts after a heavy rain. Dried off switch to reset.

Alert: Eldorado Monitor at first then 2V2, BJC, & BKF monitors
First alert was at 2024 local on Eldorado Mountain monitor. ELT faded in and out of several monitors for 2 hours. At approx. 2200 local Betty was notified that there was a KC-135 over the Colorado/Nebraska border with an active ELT on board; possibly in a parachute pack. All bearings for the Denver area pointed to the Northeast. ELT finally faded out completely at 2230 local.

Notified at 1620 by CAP that there was an ELT in the Centennial area. Elt was located on a C-172 in a hanger at APA and deactivated at 16:42 local.

Alert: Eldorado Mountain, BJC, BKF, 2V2, and CAP monitors Elt started approx. 1610 local, being heard by mutiple monitors and on the ground (airborne).
Bearing from BJC pointed in the direction of Van Aire. Signal faded out with the same bearing. Proceeded to Van Aire and no signal was heard. Mission stand down at 1745 local.

July 15, 1998

DISTRESS
Alert: Eldorado Mountain monitor at 2145 local. Heard weakly by FTG and BKF monitors and DIA 'B' Tower
ELT was located at 2230 local by Ed B. in a field approx. 1/2 mile west of Imboden Road west of Front Range Airport (FTG) on a Piper Twin Comanche (PA-30). No one was on board when located. Passengers were located at 2300 local at the truck stop in Watkins with only minor injuries and transported to a local hospital. ELT was deactivated at 2314 local after the Adams County Sheriff gave us permission to turn it off.

We were alerted by CAP at approx. 1230 local of SARSAT hits 4 miles S.E. of Morrison. CAP aircraft located near the intersection of Bowles and Santa Fe. Kent located in a house just south of the intersection of Platte Canyon and Bowles at 1352 local and deactivated.
