Alert information:12:30 with an intermittentant ELT at APA. FSS called in the problem.
Located: I departed work at 1240 negative signal. About 1247 I heard 3 sweeps, followed by 2 sweeps, followed by 1 sweep. At 1250 I stopped at TAC Air to chase a carrier only signal there. The carrier only signal turned out to be a cherry picker working on a gutter. On the way back to work I heard 5 sweeps followed by 3 sweeps, followed by 1 sweep, some what weaker at about 1308. It will be hard to guess what this is because there was a constant wind from the west about 10 to 15 kts. I could not say anything but that the signal seemed much stronger on the SE side of the tower. Departing to the North the signal sounded weaker.

Alert information: Centennial AirportHam monitor activated at 1348L at APA departed the vehicle about 1410L near the tower. After wakling around the hangar and adjoining hangars to make sure this was not a reflection I ran to Ed and advised him to the hangar I was working on. Ed was going to get access to the ramp from Operations and I walked into the hangar. An immediate jump in signal strength boosted my confidence that I was in the right hangar.
Located: I ran into a person (said excuse me ;-) and asked him if he had tested an ELT. He had accidently bumped a switch and reset it. He returned to the aircraft (PA-31T) and reset the switch. The ELT ceased at 1428L

Alert information: Centennial Airport1238 PM Local Ham monitor alerted at APA. Monitering did not get an immediate ELT. 1259 Monitor alerted again. At 1330, I checked the monitor again and this time I heard an ELT. I departed work for APA about 1340. Aquired the ELT about the USWest Hangar. Narrowed the area down to about Precision Aviation. Departed the vehicle and found the ELT was strongest at the Jet Center West Ramp between two Jets. Citation X and Lear Jet, both had a strong signal. The Lear activated their ELT which was a fast sweep and discounted that aircraft's ELT. The Citation activivated theirs and no new signal was detected. After several re-evaluating of the location we asked the Citation to check their ELT direct. They called a mechanic. While the mechanic was working his way to the ELT I remembered the Hams talking about a liferaft on a corporate jet and asked the Citation if I could examine theirs. The Elper without an antenna detected no signal.
Located: returned to the Lear and their liferaft showed positive. After removing the liferaft from the aircraft this was confirmed by the two hams at the site. Consulting the manager at precision, the life raft was opened and the ELT deactivated. While re-packing the ELT activated again. When I left the people on-board the Lear were making arrangements with the manager at Precision as to what to do with the raft. I made my apoligies to the crew of the Citation and left them my card if they had any problems. The ELT was off at 1458L.
